Good answer Jury. Now … can you provide a complete list of their media holdings – print media, magazines, television, etc. I am sure people would be very interesting to see the list.

You might run out of characters – the list could exceed the size limit of a Yahoo Answer!

Wow girl, you are thorough-

But I think a lot of your info is taken out of context. Although your statements are essentally correct, please keep in mind that most of the environmental fines/levies that you list are a result of historical situations that were endemic throughout the industrial/manufacturing culture of the last 100 years of civilization. I am not a GE fan, and had a chuckle as I watched their stock price plummet, and as a consultant to federal regulatory agencies had no small part in levying those fines against the different divisions of GE.

But in fairness, I would ike to point out that in several of those cases, the violations took place prior to GE taking ownership of the facility in question, and for the remaining balance, GE was simply observing accepted best business practices at the time and for the most part, he violations occurred long before there wer any envronmental laws and regulations enacted in this country.

Later edit to harmless-

As a matter of fact, GE is pretty understanding when it comes to financial responsibility- I would say that they get a 7.5 out of 10. Again, I’n not a fan of GE, and I competely agree with Diamonds’ premise of a biased media, but I know that you generally use a lot of products/foodstuffs every day that were manufactured by companies with a much worse sense of environmental stewardship.

I didn’t know the answer to this question, but have a related question others can ponder.

How much of the fine money was ever paid? I will wager none.
